Pennsylvania Department of Aging Grant Application
We have received 100% of the PDA grants we have written on behalf of our clients. The average grant award has been $64,570, and the average cost per grant has been less than 5.42%. If you’re doing the math, that is a fee of $3,500, with an average rate of return of 1,930%! Here is how that breaks down — $1,250 as a retainer upon agreement to write the grant, $1,250 upon completion and submission of the grant, and $1,000 only if we are successful in getting the grant, which cost helps with post-grant reports.
What’s involved? Stephen Forbus will meet with each center in person or by electronic meeting (Skype or GoToMeeting). You will receive an assessment by NNPRC of what can be done with a PDA grant to help your center grow, recommendations for programs and activities, and support to bring partnerships together (if necessary). NNPRC will provide the grant research, writing, creative content, and help with strategic planning and program development. Senior centers provide the budget information, lease agreements, membership participation numbers, will get estimates from contractors/vendors for any work that needs to be done with grant monies, will be responsible for all monies received and invoices to be paid, and will submit reports to the state Department of Aging.
Program Development, Partnership Development, Marketing & Publicity
NNPRC can provide training for senior centers to help volunteers with everything found on our page about Senior Centers. The cost for a full range of training is $1,250 for Board Development (1 class), Strategic Planning (2 classes), Program Development (2 classes), Partnership Development (2 classes), Revenue Diversification (2 classes), Marketing & Publicity (2 classes), and Leadership Development (1 class). These are live training sessions via Skype or GoToMeeting, and classes are 60 to 75 minutes each. Classes can be taken separately at a cost of $100 per hour for training. The purpose for 2 classes for some subjects is to provide feedback and additional training after volunteers learn and start using their training.
The flat fee for having NNPRC provide the program development, partnership development, and marketing & publicity is $1,500 as a one-time expense. Marketing includes a survey of your membership, creating a branded message, creating a new tag-line, and developing how to use your message; the center will still be responsible for using that marketing message through social media, submitting ads to print media, etc. The cost of graphic design work is not included, but we can recommend a graphic designer. Components can be purchased separately at a cost of $100 per hour.
